With the human brain processing images 60,000 times faster than text, good photos are vital for getting attention and getting your message across. But what do you do if you don’t have enough visual material? Get free on one of these amazing free stock photo sites.
1. Unsplash
Do whatever you want with their collection of over 1,300,000 beautiful, high-resolution images from more than 50,000 contributors. Unsplash offers a large collection of free high-resolution photos and has become one of the best sources for stock images. Chances are good that you’ll find something to work with on this free stock site.
2. Pexels
Pexels provides high quality and completely free stock photos licensed under the Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license. All photos are nicely tagged, searchable and also easy to discover through their discover pages.
3. Pixabay
This site has a very large database of high-quality images. It’s somewhat more oriented towards business and marketing, which is often helpful for content marketers and bloggers. Another big advantage of Pixabay is that they also offer free vectors and illustrations.
4. Stocksnap.io
StockSnap.io has a large selection of beautiful free stock photos and high resolution images. The site also has a very handy search feature making it easy to browse through the thousands of images available.
5. Reshot
More than a just a simple stock photo collection, Reshot is a community with a mission. They aim to give emerging photographers a platform to share their creativity with those who need it. Their curated collections are extensive, stunning, and completely free.
6. Stockvault
Stockvault is another great source of free stock photos, wallpapers, and even textures. The collection is only about half the size of Unsplash, but it’s well-curated and has daily new additions. This site also has a good search engine and is well-organized for browsing by category.
7. Burst
Burst is a resource from Shopify that provides free stock photos for entrepreneurs. Some photos are licensed under Creative Commons CC0 while others fall under Shopify’s own photo license. Most of the pictures are original photos that were taken in-house and are themed around trending business niches.
8. FoodiesFeed
FoodiesFeed offers thousands of beautiful realistic free food pictures in high resolution. It’s the perfect stock photo site for food bloggers.
9. Picjumbo
Picjumbo is a collection of totally free photos for your commercial & personal works. New photos are added daily from a wide variety of categories including abstract, fashion, nature, technology and much more..
10. Pikwazard
Pikwazard offers a huge collection of unique stock images and also a design wizard that allows you to make basic edits like adding text overlays before downloading. While the basics are free, they also have paid version that’s a full-feature online image editing tool.
11. Morguefile
This site is also somewhat different. The photos are not curated and not as professionally produced. Morguefile is not the place to find big header images, but if you need a simple free photo of a kid brushing his teeth, this is the free stock photos website for you. You’ll find pictures of random people and everyday objects and more.
